Alla prima – a painting technique that involves completing a painting in one sitting before the paint dries. “I wish I could paint the way birds sing,” French painter Claude Monet once said and used the alla prima technique to do so.

Narrative on behalf of the author: “I was born September 3, 1984. I am a self-taught artist.
By profession - a teacher of mathematics, but the creative streak in me was always present.
I love to draw since childhood, but more densely engaged in it since 2016. At first it was ordinary drawings on album sheets: pencils, felt-tip pens, watercolors, gouache, pastels ... “Serious” works on canvases dared to start writing in 2021. Favorite theme - landscapes, but I try myself and in interior painting, creating abstract paintings. Now in my collection of more than 30 works.
Mostly I write in the technique of Alla Prima, but there are also a few works from the category of sculptural painting. To convey the accuracy of objects and images in landscapes, I use a multi-layered technique in which colors interact with each other, not mixed. But thanks to acrylic (these are the paints I work with), which dries much faster than oil and watercolor, the creation of a work is “in one sitting”, so to speak “a la prima”.
Sometimes I combine different techniques to achieve unusual and colorful effects on one painting. I also work with texture paste, it perfectly conveys the “vividness” of sea waves and mountain peaks.”
The colors and images of nature delight and inspire the search for truth, which may be hidden not in mathematical precision of calculations, but in a single moment of beauty, which must be “grasped and held” at the tip of the brush by the hand of a true master, even if he is only at the beginning of his journey.
